Prayer & Evangelism Devotionals

Day – Acts 1:1 CEV “all that Jesus did and taught from the very first…”

Luke sets out to communicate to Theophilus the account of the message and ministry of Jesus. What’s mind blowing is that Luke, the physician sys that he wanted to communicate all that Jesus did and taught. To accomplish this great feat, Luke had to give focused attention to what Jesus did and taught. Luke had to push past distraction and doubt with the aid of the Holy Spirit and record what the Spirit was accomplishing through the disciples.

Today, we are well advised to heed the example of Luke in our pursuit of godliness, and evangelistic fire. We have to pay close attention to the details of our divine transformation so that we are able to clearly communicate all that Jesus has done and taught us in our lives.

Second, as we pray for evangelistic flavor, fire, and fervency let’s not allow our distractions become our detours. Like Luke, our job is to plainly tell it all. Jesus did it Jesus taught it I received it.

Lastly, let’s take a moment to write down what Jesus has done for us and that’s the script to be used to share Jesus’ works in our lives with others.

Prayer

Thank you for giving us the power to pay attention to what you do in our lives and thank you for giving us the ability to communicate your love and mercy to others. Now grace us this day to both “pray and say” all that you are to us so that others might come to know you. In Jesus’ Name….

Day – Acts 1:3 CEV “he proved in many ways that he had been raised from death.”

No one seems to have a problem with people dying. Yes, we are hurt, we grieve, and we even get upset with God when we lose someone. That’s just what it means to be human and experience the pain that accompanies one’s humanity. Death is the cessation of life. For too many people death is the end.

Historically, Jesus’ death was one of the most graphic and violent asasinations ever to be carried out. Yet, its not his death that seems to disturb the whole world. Luke says the problem is that Jesus overcame death and proven it to the disciples in many ways.

As we pray for the souls of unchurched and unsaved persons, remember that its never our fallings that bother most people. People of character accept that to be human is sometimes and in some things to fail. So what really bothers people is that we as Christians are raised up from failure by the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. Pray that Jesus through greater galilee church would prove to the discouraged, downcast and dejected as well as, those in need of a savior that He did get up and has the power to raise them as well.

Prayer

Lord I surrender today. Through me demonstrate your resurrection power to heal, encourage, save, and deliver.

Day – Acts 1:7 CEV

Stay Out Of My Business!

When I was young, old people would tell us to go play outside and stay out of grown people business. Isn’t that what Jesus is telling the disciples and us today? You go and do what I’ve asked you to do and stay out of my business. Jesus wants us to let God handle God’s business and you and I do what we have been called to do. Pray to the Lord of the harvest that he would send more laborers. The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few.

Share the plan of salvation with someone today, invite someone to join us for bible study or take a moment to pray for someone who needs prayer (even if this person is our enemy).

Prayer

Lord Jesus, help me today to be a laborer not at leisure. Challenge me to share your grace with another person who is in need. My eyes are on what I’m responsibly for and not on what I can’t control. In Jesus Name…

Day – Acts 1:4 CEV

Learning the Value of Waiting

What a bummer it can be to wait in line or wait on something that was already supposed to be ready. Do you enjoy waiting? Notice the instructions given to those in the upper room – Wait. Seriously? Wait. God has a reason and a reward for us when we learn to live life in his rhythm and not our own. Wait until… What a word for us Pray until, serve until, fast until , or be thy faithful…ask God to help us learn the value in waiting. Peep this- waiting didn’t mean just doing nothing- rather it meant doing what they can do until God was ready to move. Let’s model that today as we pray and wait. Do what you can for all you can when you can while you can.

Prayer

Lord, teach us the irrationality of ripping and running through our existence and show us the value on trusting and waiting on you. In Jesus’ Name…

Day –  Acts 1:8a

It’s Personal For Me

There are a lot of insults and compliments that we never take personal or seriously because the person who said it was on the low end of our respect meter. This is not the case when it comes to verse 8. Because of Who said it and what He said, we should take this word personally. God wants to daily endow us and be all we need. That’s serious.

Today when you brag on God and tell others what God did in Jesus Christ remember you have what it takes because God personally endowed you. God doesn’t call the qualified; God qualifies the called. Take it very personal.

Prayer

God thank you for choosing me and now embolden my soul with your mighty flames that I may only brag on you. In Jesus Name…

Day      – Acts 1:8b

God, give me what I need…Power

When I was younger, as a child I was of the mindset that as long as a person gets what they want they’d always be satisfied. Well, as I matured I quickly realized that just giving a person their “wants” never satisfies their “needs.”

What does a soul winning Christian need? Two things: Intimacy with God and power from God. These attributes coupled with a burden and love for people will give the soul winner an inspired motivation and a strong determination.

Prayer

Lord, I choose to present you all that I need and want. Give me my needs and have your way with my wants. Let my desire be what warms your heart.

Day  – Acts 1:8

Hype It Up

Have you ever been to a concert or TV show typing? If you have you know that prior to the star coming out there are persons hired to “hype up”

or prepare the crowd. When Jesus sends the disciple through those listed geographic areas Jesus intends for them to Hype Him UP.

Wet it up or warm it up – When we pray in faith and brag on Jesus, we set the table for God to do what God desires to do. The Superstar of the universe is coming. Who are you hyping up”?

Prayer

God, today wherever your grace allows me to go please strengthen me to warm it up for you.

Application: In order for us to become mature in Christ, we must be taught. Paul ?instructs the people with the gospel, so that they may be presented mature to ?Christ.

Prayer: Lord, help us to become mature in Christ through the teaching of the gospel.

MATTHEW 28:19-20

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

OBSERVATION:

The “Great Commission” says, “go and make disciples.” We have to include all nations and baptizing them; teaching them everything that you have already been taught. Know he is with us always.

APPLICATION:

Reach out to others and share the gospel with all. Sharing the gospel is as easy as sharing your walk with others.

PRAYER:

Lord, help me bring others to you by evangelizing.

  1 CORINTHIANS 1:17

17 For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power

OBSERVATION:

Paul’s main ministry was preaching and then baptism. Paul allows us to know that he didn’t have any special speech to preach.

Application:

We have to be intentional about what we do for Christ. He has commanded us to share Christ with all we meet. It does not take a special way of speaking; just do you and Christ will empower you.

Prayer:

Lord, give the me the ability to share gospel with others.

The Great Commission

Mark 16:14-15

14 Afterward he appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen. 15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.

OBSERVATION :

According to Mark, this text is THE GREAT COMMISSION. The text teaches us that Jesus was upset with the disciples for their disbelief of those had previously seen Jesus after his resurrection. The disciples had their instructions concerning what to expect when Christ would return. After Jesus rebuked them Jesus told the disciples, “go into all world preach the gospel.”

APPLICATION

Everyone can share the gospel. Sharing the gospel is about sharing what we know about Christ. Follow the command, “go into all the world and share the gospel.” Everyday we all have an opportunity to tell others about Christ. Use those opportunities. Have you shared the gospel lately?

Prayer:

Lord, help me to be the person that is sharing the gospel with all that I meet. Help me to help others know you by sharing the gospel and helping others to know you by evangelizing.

Prayer & Evangelism Devotionals

John 1:8

John himself was not the light he was simply a witness a tell about the light.

Observation:  GOD has chosen us (believers) to reflect His light to non believers. We are to use that light to point them to Christ.

Is your light pointing in the right direction? Do your bulbs or batteries need replacing?

Are you being the light that GOD has called you to be?

Prayer: Lord, let our light shine so that you can be seen in such a dark dying world. Give us unlimited supply of batteries/bulbs so that YOUR image is always shining through us. Help us be tour guides to the lost. Amen

Acts 1:8

For you will receive POWER when the Holy Sprit comes upon you. You will become witnesses telling people about me EVERYWHERE

Observation: POWER & EVERYWHERE

The powers we receive are our boldness, authority, courage, and confidence.  God has instructed us that EVERYWHERE we go we should tell others about the goodness of God. Which means we need to boldly speak when we think nobody is really listening to us. Someone is always watching & listening to us. Even when you’re the only believer in the room at work, school, or home wherever.

Question: Remember when you were younger & your parents would always be “Preaching” to you about STUFF. You would sometimes act like you weren’t listening. Now you look back & think dang they were right. You have to have faith that all your “preaching” will someday have the same impact on non believers.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the power You have given us – the power to spread your word. My we utilize your power to go out daily and teach, encourage & remind others to seek and follow you. So that they too will have the power. Amen

Prayer:

2Chronicles 7:14

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways. I will hear from heaven and forgive the sins and restore their land.

Observation: 4 steps: Humility, Prayer, Seeking & Turning.  Most of us make the mistake spending our day with our chest poked out and running our big mouths about “our accomplishments.” That is not how we must come to God. When we have a need, we must humble ourselves and the knowledge that God is who GOD is. We must humble ourselves to God. We must come to him with a thankful, grateful, and appreciative spirit.

Thanking him for what he has done for us. Asking him to forgive us for our sins: known and unknown; seen and unseen. We must be repentant.

Prayer: Lord ,we just ask for forgiveness today. It is not about what I have accomplished, but the ways you have made for me. Help us to be more humble throughout our day, so that people can see You and not us.

Mark 11:25

but when you are praying, first, forgive anyone you’re holding a grudge against so that your father in heaven and will forgive your sins to.

Observation: Real prayer eliminates pride and vengeance. It is replaced with love.

Question: People sometimes have a hard time forgiving others because they have not truly forgiven themselves. God has already forgiven you now it’s time for you to forgive yourself. Have you forgiven yourself? You can’t see the blessings in front of you if you’re always looking backwards.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help us to forgive ourselves. Then may we forgive others. Help us to let go of the hurt and release ALL grudges so that we can experience for joy of prayer and relationship with You. Amen

Prayer & Evangelism Devotionals

  1. Matthew 9:37-38 “Go Tell It”

37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

As Christians that know God, we are to pray continuously. We must pray that God not only sends others, but ourselves as well, to go evangelize to those that don’t know Him. It is important that we continue to pray that God touches or pricks our hearts so that more Christians can be about our Father’s business. Jesus went out into the world to go tell the people about God. So, then we must go tell it! Pray that God protects us and gives us compassion to be concerned about others.

Do you have a tender compassion for others? Are you willing to go? Get out of your box and tell it.

We have to stop being so busy that we can’t stop to speak to others about Christ. We need to be concerned about our brother or sister’s business, time for change.

Dear Lord, I pray that You would use us to go out into the world to do Your work and Your will. I pray Father that You would touch the hearts of not just me, but also others that we may go and do Your will in spreading Your word to the unsaved world that does not know you. Send us, Lord send me!

  1. 1 Peter 3:15 “Do You!”

15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

Be secure in your faith, know why and what you believe in; and stand firm on what you believe. How? By the way we present ourselves in church and to the world, wherever we go. We are to live a life like God is beside us every day. We cannot be a wishy-washy Christian.

It is important for us to believe in the life that God has me, even when it looks tough. The way I present myself should be the same. If something doesn’t get paid or if something doesn’t work the way I may think it should, it is ok…but God.

Doing you…will it win a soul or cause a soul to be lost?

Dear Lord, help us to be an example to others in our walk, talk and our actions. When others see us please let them see the You in us. Lord, help us to obey Your word and obey in a such a way that others question why we do what we do. In Jesus’ Name…Amen.

  1. Ephesians 6:19 #standup

19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,

Words and statements that come out of your mouth by the power of God are spoken with boldness.. When you speak you should believe that God will give you the right things to say at the right time, no matter what or who may not agree with what you say. It is imperative that you speak what you speak with boldness, in order that souls be won for Christ.

We have to stop feeling like what we say is little or not good enough. Stand tall and stand up with boldness and know that God is God and He has givenus all we need to complete the assignment.

Can you stand up for Christ when the world looks and talks to you ugly? When someone attacks you? Can you stand bold in the midst of the unknown?

Lord, help us to speak boldly about You! Help us to never have a fear of what or how people may think about what we say or how we speak about You. Give us boldness to brag on Your greatness and how YOU continue to do for us, in us and through us. In Jesus’ Name Amen.

  1. Philemon 6 “Growing Pains”

I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ.

Scripture talks about sharing the word effectively, that when we speak on or about God it should be done with power, energy and passion…knowing something is going to happen!

When we speak do people stop and listen?

We have to speak and continue to fill ourselves with the Word, so that we can bring His word to others with power!

Dear God, open our spiritual eyes and ears, that we may see and hear Your word and works. May we continue to grow in order to effectively share our faith with others. In Jesus’ Name Amen

  1. Act 4:20 “Ain’t no stopping us”

20 As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”

God’s word tells us that no matter what, because of the things we have seen and the miracles that have occurred in our lives, we should tell of His goodness and all GOD is doing and continues to do…there should be an eagerness to tell others about His greatness.

Can you image God doing something so awesome in your life and someone telling you not to say a word…it would be like finding a hundred dollar bill and not telling a soul you found it. Or getting a pair of shoes for a dollar and telling no one of the good news.

All God has done for me. ..when I look back over my life I cannot do anything but yell it, “Ain’t No Stopping Me!”

Dear Lord, thank you for giving us a spirit of wanting to tell someone. Father continue to fill us so that we can tell it. Continue working miracles in our lives so that we can continue telling it.

Prayer & Evangelism Devotionals

  1. Evangelism

Matthew 25:14

And this gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

The question is often asked, “when will Christ return?” Hearing the gospel is the answer to the worldwide question. Not until everyone has heard the Gospel at least once. That’s when we will receive the return of Christ. We must evangelize in every area to all people. So they may receive not only the gift of eternal life, but also a life of joy and purpose.

Lord, grant us the will to share the gospel with everyone. Open our eyes that we may see the importance of being a living witness. When we share Christ with others, we must not present ourselves as if we are above them or better than they are, nor as if we are pointing out their sins, the reality is that we all have sinned.

Lord, thank you for opening our eyes to share Your gospel to others.

Lord, thank you for showing us that we too are sinners saved by Your grace. Grant us the ability to share your gospel with others so that they may receive. In Jesus’ Name Amen

  1. James 5:20

We as fellow brethren are responsible to lead a fellow brother or sister back to Christ. We cannot be so holy that we live to condemn others who have fallen away from the faith. The very grace that we received ought to not held back from others. We should seek to win them back. For a life is at stake.

Oh Lord, open our hearts to our brethren that by our love we may win them back to the family. Allow the very grace of God by which we are saved to inspire us to reach out to others. In Jesus’ Name Amen.

  1. The Gospel Call

Matthew 11:28-30

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest, take my yoke upon you and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls, for my yolk is easy and my burdens is light.

This call has the power to bring us out of darkness and bring us into God’s Kingdom. This call brings us into fellowship with Him. By reaching out to others, who feel as if they are so heavy with the weight of the world, we will give them the opportunity to be free of trying to make it on their own. Christ is our burden bearer. Our God moves us from watching others stress out or being depressed to offering them Christ as a solution to their dark situation.

Lord, we pray that Your power would offer through us the rest many need and through Your grace allow us to know how to handle the broken people of this world with sincere gentleness. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

  1. Freedom Through Evangelism

Romans 3:23

For we all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God.

We live in a world were fingers are pointed from one person to the other. Social media allows people to call out areas in the lives of others as if the finger could never be pointed at them. We have to let people know that we all have sinned and none of us have the right to receive eternal life.

Also we have to let people know that they can share in the peace of knowing the love of Christ. All people have a right to know what it is like to walk with the King.

Lord, thank you for bridging our failures. Today we choose not to point out a fault, but rather to point out your favor for our lives.

  1. Answer the Call

Romans 8:35-39

The prearranged future holds glory for us. We receive the power to turn away from living a life a despair. Dejection, fear, victimizing circumstances…

Have you ever answered a call and wished you had not responded. The headache, or just felt down, or just feeling the need to lay down. Well, not this call. This call was already predestined to grant you a life of hope. This call will motivate you to want others to answer their call as well.

Lord, thank you for extending the call to glory to us. Empower us daily to answer Your call and be models of new life for others to see. In Jesus’ Name Amen.
