“Prayer is an offering up of our desires unto God, in the name of Christ, by the help of his Spirit, with confession of our sins, and thankful acknowledgment of his mercies.”

 

1. We pray because we have the (  conviction        ) that Prayer does make a difference.

(Appreciate        ) the privilege –  Inspiration

 

(Appropriate          ) the promise – Invitation

 

Power-  1Kings 18:21; 30-39

 

(Provision           )/ Purpose – 1 Cor. 16:9; 2 Cor. 2:12; Col. 4:3 – “open doors”

 

(Peace           ) – Isaiah 26:3; Phil. 4:6, 7

 

2. We pray because we have the necessity of ( Connection        ).

Harry Emerson Fosdick said “ the only thing the disciples ever asked Jesus to teach them was “how to pray.”

 

The purpose of life is not only to live well, but also to live better – Elton Trueblood

 

Another dimension has to ( preside             ) over “this” day…as it is in heaven, let it be done on Earth.

3. We pray because we affirm that God does (  Care         ) for us.

Genesis 16:11, 13 God has (seen           )

Genesis 21:14-19 God has ( Heard           )

“Relationship” –

Romans 8:34– Intercedes

Colossians 4:2 -“Devote”… prayer. This word “be devoted to” or “persevere in” or “continue in” occurs six times in the New Testament in relation to prayer.

Stay “awake” in prayer
